An implosion occurred during the morning of Wednesday, 2 October 2024 when two external contractors were soldering a molasses tank at Casa Brugal in San Pedro de Macorís. The two men are missing. Emergency services, including ambulances and firefighters, quickly responded to the scene as the situation unfolds.
The incident occurred at the plant located in the César Iglesias industrial area of the southeastern province of San Pedro de Macoris.
Colonel Rubén Darío de la Cruz Martínez, head of the San Pedro Macorís Fire Department, told Diario Libre that preliminary reports suggest that the missing individuals may have been inside the tank at the time of the explosion.
