The place to enjoy Latin music is the San Francisco Ruins on Sundays, at sunset in the Colonial City. Bonyé Band plays every Sunday – merengue, salsa, son and bachata. Free admission.

But for those seeking more comfort, snacks or dinner, paired with people-watching ambience and good music, following is a short list:

Jalao. Calle El Conde, Colonial City. 809 792-1262Jalao is a Dominican food restaurant, bar and dance and shows hall. There is a cover to go dancing that is RD$400 on Wednesday and RD$200 on Thursdays to Sundays. Live orchestras.

Jet Set. Av. Independencia, El Portal. 809 533-9707The Jet Set is a night club in front of the Presidente Beer brewery. There are live Latin music shows on Mondays, with cover for women and men depending on who is performing. Cover depends on the artist. The dance hall is open with Latin music played by DJs on Fridays...
