Interesting Samana Hotel News

Got this from some folks who "know":

1) The AMHSA resort in Las Galeras, the Grand Paradise Samana, has been sold to Bahia Principe. The deal closes in March, as will the facility for a bunch of work. Not sure what I think of this. That gives BP the 5 major resorts on the peninsula and pretty much eliminates the only really viable competitor.

2) Las Ballenas Resort is for sale. Not good. I wonder if two years of horrible roads finally made them throw in the towel.

3) Gran Bahia Principe Samana is being used as housing for employees and management. If you inquire about a reservation, you get suggested one of the other resorts.

Do you know the day when the Grand Paradise Samana will be closed? I?ve made a reservation for 4 weeks in April/May, so your info would be very helpful.

I have no idea.

Could be part will remain open during remodeling. Could be you get shuttled to one of the other BP resorts.

People just coming back from LG told me, that the hotel will be closed for more than a year...

That?s exactely what I don?t want. I would change my reservation and travel there earlier.
