I have Orange which is pretty good quality in Santiago....900 pesos a month. Claro wouldn't accept me because I didnt have 5 Dominican references or a 5000 pesos a month job here.

Thanks for the info. Is that with the flybox and a contract?

I have both Claro and Tricom...Tricom has been more reliable over the past 8 months. I get Internet interruptions with Claro.
Never has any so far (knock on wood) with Tricom.

Reliability is great. In this case it's for my son so I don't mind it being slow. Less YouTube and games, more Wikipedia for school... Which company offers the cheapest solution?

So for information to the community.... I went with Tricom. They have a campaign now with free modem. It's 3g, no contract and 1500 for two months (incl. taxes), 10 GB limit. I think one month was 900, 5GB. So far it works very good :) And yeah 10 GB, no youtube and downloading I guess. Anyone knows how many hours it will last with normal Internet use ? (no youtube, TV etc.)

I had the claro plan, 5 GB for 2 months. I was online every day, used Magic Jack and Skype, and only used 3 MB at the end of 2 months. I didn't download anything or use YouTube.

Oops, yes, I meant 3 GB. With Claro you can check online easily how much you've used.
