Is there a free Web 2 SMS service in DR

As I live on my computer and SMS is the way we all communicate around here is there a way to send free SMS via the web in the DR like you can in so many places around the world?

Hello Fellow Canuck,

I was searching for this a while back too. All I could find were:

1. skype - not free, but cheap enough

2. BBM - black berry messenger, most of my friends in DR have BBM, and with my unlimited berry, it's 'free' ie. unlimited, AND portable (Unlike web to sms)

3. mig33 - if both you and your recipient have this app installed on your phones, sms is 'free' as in it's client to client through the web - but be careful with this one, if you don't have an unlimited internet plan from orange or claro on your mobile, you and the recipient are paying for internet charges.

I think both Orange and Viva also have this, but you may have to be signed into their site.

That works too, but there's no way for the person to respond to your message unless they know it's 'you'...
