Hi,

This is a long shot. Maybe even a long, long shot. Math is one of my several retirement hobbies. Several years ago I started at the beginning of third grade level at khanacademy.org (free), and now I am working on pre-calculus (vectors). You can crunch the numbers, get the steps right, solve a problem. But sometimes you have questions about the concepts behind the problem. That's where the real excitement and potential for deeper understanding lies. But without someone to have a discussion with, you are left to your own devices.

I am looking for a math study partner to meet once per week in a public place. I am not looking for a tutor. You do your math, I do mine, sometimes we talk . . .

Any takers? PM me. Thinking about the possibility of doing something is free and there is no obligation.

I have a very good friend who teaches math, is studying for his masters and loves everything math. The only issue is that he only speaks Spanish, not a word of English. Do you speak Spanish?

I am fluent in everyday functioning but do not have capacity for academic Spanish, so this probably would not be fruitful. However, there is much that we could share, e.g. I am familiar with significant math websites; khanacademy.org is also available in Spanish, etc. If you would share my information with him/her, and there is interest in at least communicating and see where it leads, then get back to me, and I will PM my contact information.
