A former employee of the once very popular Santo Domingo nightclub Jet Set has revealed he repeatedly warned owner Antonio Espaillat about the deteriorating condition of the club’s roof before its catastrophic collapse two months ago. At least 236 people are reported dead and more than 150 injured when the roof collapsed after midnight on 8 April 2025, marking it as the worst civilian disaster in Dominican history.

Gregory Adames, identified as one of 68 plaintiffs now pursuing legal action against Espaillat and the club’s other partners, made the disclosure during an interrogation on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 by a team of prosecutors led by Wilson Camacho, head of the Public Ministry’s Prosecution Department.

This revelation of warnings is damning to the owner. Also, the National Office for Seismic Assessment and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie) is supposed to submit a report of its findings of the collapse to The Attorney General's Office before Thursday of this week.
