It is the New York Yankees vs the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dominican, 25-year old Juan Soto delivered for the Yankees, hitting a dramatic three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning of Game 5 of the American League championship series against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday, 19 October 2024 in Cleveland. The Yankees won the series 4-1, advancing to the World Series for the first time since 2009.

This could be Soto’s second ring. He had been on the World Series winning team with the Washington Nationals in 2019. He was 20 years old.

Sports media have highlighted that since Soto joined the Yankees in a trade from the San Diego Padres, he significantly enhanced the team’s offense capabilities, complementing fellow slugger Aaron Judge. The formidable batting duo has been likened to historical pairings like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

The media has reported that Soto’s arrival...

I support two teams. The Red Sox and whoever beats the Yankees.

All kidding aside, I think LA has a slight advantage. A team with Ohtani? Come on.

And I hope they exploit it and send NYY back to the Bronx in ignominy. :ROFLMAO:

I only support the Yankees. Only saw three other games in my life where the Yankees were not playing.
One in Oakland at the now defunct field, one at the former home of the San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park and
one during a business meetting in Boston at that handball court the Red Sucks call a baseball stadium. They need a new place badly.

The last game I saw in person was at Yankee Stadium when Soto beat the Red Sucks with a game winning hit in the bottom of the tenth.
I think it was the last game of this season between the Yankees and them. Always great to see the Yankees win against them.

Ohtani is one of a kind. But the Yankees 2,3,and 4 batters can all hit it out. Soto, Judge, and Stanton.................:Not easy to get past this part of the lineup.........

I really wanted it to be the Yankees and the Mets.
Subway series doesn't have the national appeal of LA vs NY. Besides LA was once a Brooklyn team.
And where else can you get a Dodger Dog?
Anyone else heard of the story of Louis Tiant who pulled a locker room stunt with a hot dog bun mocking Dodger Dogs?

I always forget NY has another team. Thank you for reminding me of their name.

Go Yankees.
The Mets surprised people with their play-off run. I guess if I had to choose between the Dodgers and the Yankees, I will go with the Yankees.

I do not know if I agree, I think a subway series would have a lot of appeal.

That’s what I was hoping for. My dad was a rabid Brooklyn Dodgers fan, he despised the Yankees. I was very young when they left NY but I remember the sadness. The Mets came a few years later, and were so bad you had to root for them. I still do, not a popular stance in Philly land 😂

My brother and my grandsons are Yankee fanatics. The grandsons love Soto and Jasson “The Martian” Dominguez (from Esperanza, Mao)

My son is a fan of Teo Hernandez, he met him at some baseball clinic thing in NJ. Said he is a really nice guy.
