Judge Fátima Veloz of the National District’s Permanent Attention Court on Saturday, 7 June 2025, set a bond of RD$100,000 (RD$10,000 in cash) and periodic check-ins for Chinese businessman Po Xie, owner of the Mudan store on Av. Duarte. Xie is accused of assaulting a lawyer from the Migration Agency (DGM) during an inspection that led to the detention of 35 undocumented immigrants.

Freddy Manuel Díaz, Xie’s lawyer, provided the information.

The prosecution had asked for a RD$200,000-peso (RD$20,000 cash deposit) cash bond, a travel ban without prior judicial authorization, and periodic appearances before the investigating prosecutor.

Xie had been arrested on 5 June at around 2pm in the San Carlos neighborhood of the National District, pursuant to a judicial order issued for the alleged assault.
