LOL

Get ready for the joy of installing the light kit, very near impossible.

I have done 2 (Non-LED), they were sold to me with a standard separate light kit.
The store claiming that was the light kits.
The opening and logistics of installing the wire and fixture is very hard.

I have never seen KDK's with factory fitted kits (in the capital) and always end up installing separate wall lights as I don't like the look of the fans with the light kits installed that they sell here.

Could this be something to import? I'm pretty certain a KDK from the US would come in at under the US$ 200 mark and the range would be much better.

Linares in Cabarete often sell KDK fans and accessories. KDK are ok, the motors are good, but the blades rust really quickly. After my third set of blades I upgraded and imported a bunch of ceiling fans from eBay that had plastic fans and LED lights. They are fantastic.

Agreed on the blade issue. What fans did you import and how is the air movement compared to the KDK?

We bought 4 Kichler outdoor/indoor ceiling fans on eBay about 5 - 6 years ago and shipped them down in drums. Two are outside (covered terrazzo) and two inside, running great, no rust, even the ones outside, and we’re very close to the ocean. Really move the air. We’d buy them again in a heartbeat. They’re a little pricey, we caught a close out.

We do have a KDK in another room (great), and a Westinghouse that we bought in Santo Domingo at Ferreteria Americana (useless but pretty).

I wish you would have posted this a week ago I just sent 8 Hunter fans to La Vega. I would have gladly helped you out getting a fan down to you from Florida.

Thanks I have a guy coming that can install a light kit on a DR KDK new fan.

I like Hunter from the US - but the Hunter fans they sell here on the North Coast are junk with fiber board fan blades with a paper coating that absorb moisture and the blades after a few years look like an old monger whose Viagra wore off.

Ok glad you got it sorted out. I like your analogy of the blades, never going to look up at my fan the same ever again. 🤣

I can do that, never seen a KDK with lights from factory.
KDK are the best fans ever sold in the DR but I have two ceiling fans I installed in my house in Santiago in 1990 when my first born daughter and both are still working... Brand name is Universal, the light switches and fan speeds control box they both turned yellow and cracked... Now I have them working in high on a single switch that Powers the motor and the light.
I got a couple of dimer switches that I will bring with me next time to see if I can set the motor speed to a lower speed.

The KDK fans of old were better quality that those today.

I bought a abanico de pedestal two years ago "Tecnomaster "from Plaza Lama, that was a on-line order Mother's day gift but the old lady keep complaining that it is too loud. The fan is just too powerful and need to be relocated in a bigger and probably open space but other than that it's a good quality fan.
I assambled the unit my self when I arrived to Santiago in my 2021 vacation trip.
Today I am going to order another one for Mother's day, this time I will buy something smaller.
Same brand probably!
