Kon Tiki playing at Novo Centro

Don't know how many of you know that Novo Centro has opened up what can be called a fine arts movie theater *HALLELUJAH

and I just saw KONTIKI yesterday

Kon Tiki - Rotten Tomatoes

which was amazing... and I really recommend it

it is mostly in Norweigen with Spanish subtitles

but with amazing scenery

and an Amazing story which I am sure most of you know..

I had read the book but was just undone by this.

And they have an early show.. Almost a matinee at 5 Om

I am just happy that Novo Centro -- and sometimes Blue Mall - has films that are different from the others that are not usually ones that I want to see. And - JD- I can understand that not going out - I got an HD TV with HBO and stay home a lot more but love the big screen and some movies.. like this one,, really should be seen on the big screen. Also I am really pleased with the 5 PM show.. not quite the matinee of my childhood but great.. Of course. some of the Art films.. like the Flower of Irkut or something which is set in Iran and is in Italian, Kurdish and Farsi with Spanish subtitles... might be a bit much for me.. but I so love that they have it.

The original Kon Tiki book by Thor Heyedahl forever changed my life as a child and gave me a case of wonderlust that never cured....

yes, I loved the book as well. It really was one of the most daring things that anyone actually DID... I was surprised to find how excited I found the movie,, even knowing the outcome.. well.. sorta knowing the outcome. I think it is out in DVD now as well actually.

It was better than I expected. The tension between the crew was well-acted. Glad to hear movies like this are being made available in SD.
