Hopefully this is really the end of La Roca.

Hopefully another Chinese store won't take its place.

La Roca has been a long sad story.
Burning twice should be some kind of a record.
The first fire was agreed more or less to be "lightning".
Good to see the city's firefighters use some restraint and make sure nothing else burned and that La Roca was gone.

Chalk this one up to urban renewal.

All that is standing today are the 4 concrete walls

If anyone has actually seen it, you can't even tell there was fire. Looks exactly the same as the day before the fire. Ughhhh, you gotta love Sosua News.

There is no damage evident on the outside walls you can see form Pedro Cllisante, that is true. But if you look at the picture with the article, you will see that where the firemen are working is not Pedro Clisante

After reading Sosua News yesterday , I went to look....there was absolutely no indication of any fire...nor any smell. Normally after a fire the smoke smell lingers for quite a while.

What about the roof? Did you find it?

I hear they are going to put a Ritz Carlton at that location and a Guccci boutique
Actually it will be a Ritz Rarlton - the Chinese version of the hotel.
Each bed comes with torn sheets, non-functioning bed side lamps and wobbling ceiling fans.
The bathroom shower valves drip all night long and the front door key must be wiggled back and forth for 10 minutes until the lock turns.
Day old sticky Rice with dried up fried chicken under heat lamps will be served 24-hours a day in the hotel restaurant. A fortune cookie is extra.

Sad end to what at one time was a great place hang out. Loved their "residence only" menu and a bunch of us loved going to rib night.

First place Charlie and I ever 'ate out' when staying here on a resort in 2005 (courtesy of Sandy at Coral Bay) when looking to buy property! It was impressive then and agree re the 'residence only' menu!

So... Anyone know who is the owner of that particular property? Any scuttlebutt about what's gonna happen with it?

I don't know the details, but I have heard there are issues with the property which are the reason something hasn't been done with it already

So, I'm guessing all of the artwork/painting Leo did to the building is a memory now?

Wrong...it is still entirely there! As are all the trees growing inside the building! Everything looks the same. I find it hard to believe there was a fire.

Wow, I completely forgot about the residents menu.
That must have been back in 2004 or something.

The “fire” was nothing more than some old piled pieces of lumber left exposed inside the uncovered area.

The building is still the same as it was before that mini camp fire.
