legal age

Hello everyone, I know this is a dumb question, but could someone please help me out....What is the legal drinking age in the Dominican Republic? I've heard that it's 24, 21, and 18. I'm headed there on March 27th, would really like to know. Thanks!!

Hi Lola: I just returned from the DR, Playa Dorada complex. I believe the age is 18, however my 17 yr old girls had no problem getting served in our resort as well as at restaurants. Have a great time!

I agree with Karina, I've been to PP twice and am going again in 12 days... I've seen as young as 16 drinking on the Resorts. Have fun, it's an excellent place to party!

Well, I grew up in the D.R. and ever since I was fourteen years old and went to friends' parties I was able to drink and I also had friends around fourteen-fifteen years old who used to go dancing all the time and they had no trouble getting alcohol.

Yeah i agree, there really isn't much of a "legal age" there, we had no problem getting served alcohol (i'm 17, my friend is 16) Have a great trip!

The legal drinking age in the D. R. is 18. However, it is usually not enforced.
