I also have a bunch of Lemon Drop Mangosteens, heathy, about 15' tall available if anyone wants one.

Lemon Drop Mangosteen, Garcinia madruno is indigenous to the Andes where it is enjoyed and widely seen in marketplaces but not renowned. The fruit looks like a shriveled droopy lemon and has a similar rind. The interior is soft white pulp and has a slight citrus taste people have compared to a sweet santol fruit or lemony cotton candy.

Asmall tree, from 15-20 feet (5-6 m) tall, with a straight, dark brown trunk. Flowers are whitish and small, perfect, and produced in axillary groups of 1-15 at branch nodes. The fruits are round, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter, with a thin orange to reddish peel. The whitish pulp has an aromatic sweet sour taste.

these are seedlings about 12" tall and ready for planting.

they require shade cloth and the correct type of soil.. you should dig out a square meter fill it with the correct soil if you don't have the right type. the rainy season is great time for planting

there is only one other person on the island who has this genus of garcina on the island (that i know of anyway)

I have a Lemondrop Mangosteen growing in a 5 Gallon pot here in S.D. growing well, about 24" now, it gets a few hours of direct sunlight during the day. I have been trying to get my hands on the purple variety Garcinia mangostana, I have tried by seed twice, but the viability of seeds is only 4-5 days, 3 weeks maximum if kept moist. I have heard rumours that there is one person with purple Mangostan in the country but they either wont or cant distribute seeds. In P.R. they are available for sale as potted plants but seeds they are keeping for their own stock as plants are still young. If anyone knows where I can get Garcinia mangostana ( purple ) please post or send me a PM, thanks.

Purple mangostens are much more difficult to grow, and take a lot longer to fruit.. count on 10 years, and no, they can't be grafted.

There is only place that has fruiting trees on the island, and they have about a dozen trees. Very difficult to find, and they are not very open to guests.

I just put my seedlings in the field, but I can get you fresh seeds if you like.

yep thats what I heard, they are not really open to guests, if your interested I do have an Acai palm seedlings ( about 8 months ) or Goji Seedlings ( about 12" 6 months ) that I can trade. I dont need a whole lot Id be happy with one good seedling
