Dominican-Argentine businessman Leonardo Wehe presented the repositioning strategy of the Cabarete tourist destination in Puerto Plata with his company Cabarete Tango. The company has an unprecedented proposal that combines luxury, culture, nature, and sports.

“The world is looking for authentic experiences, and Cabarete has it all: the wind, the surf, the art, the jazz, the warmth of its people and now, thanks to our vision, a luxury offer integrated into nature that does not exist anywhere else in the Caribbean”, he said within the framework of the most important tourism fair, the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE) 2025.

Wehe’s proposal is based on three pillars:

● Water sports and nature as a lifestyle.

● Investment in luxury infrastructure inspired by the local identity, taking advantage of the tourist destination’s natural resources.

● World-class cultural and artistic events that celebrate the soul of Cabarete, such as Cabarete Jazz Festival 2025.

As explained by the investor, the vision is already bearing fruit with multiple projects in execution, such as:

Eden Cabarete is a luxury condominium complex facing Cabarete Bay, designed by architect Byron Rodriguez and built by SC Engineering. Inspired by the waves and vegetation of the environment, it has broken sales records in the area.

ICON Cabarete is an avant-garde boutique design development with beachfront residences that redefines exclusivity in the area.

Cabaret Country Club, a 9-hole floodlit golf course in a residential complex of more than 350 units between villas and condominiums. A wide selection of amenities and sports proposals.

Hotel Villa Taina—New approach, a classic of tourism in Cabarete that has been renovated to align with the new vision of the destination. It currently has as a complementary offer the Amazonian store, making available to the market garments made by designers so that people can access high beach fashion. It is a beachfront meeting point with gastronomy with its renovated Serenade restaurant and the Villa Taina Water Club water sports school.

Cabarete Jazz Festival 2025: After its successful return in 2024, Wehe confirmed that the 2025 edition of the festival will be held on June 20-21. International and Dominican artists will perform at an unprecedented oceanfront music event.

Well, once tourism is gone, it doesn't come back. Tourism was repositioned to Punta Cana from the north coast over the past 15 years.

What Leo is building at Eden, ICON and the Cabarete Country Club will attract upscale expats far more than tourists.
I am sure he knows that.

I just heard that Leo's project Tango includes relocating La Cienaga to land above Bombita in government housing so they stop polluting the lagoon there.
Good luck with that part of the plan

Leo also just bought Villa Taina in Cabarete.

That's your criteria, nice hair? Could you be more superficial
Good point, nice blazer and he has a good dental plan. As far as the transformation of Cab. "Yea sure" , The casinos went under as did several large properties. Of course I am still waiting for the Ritz-Carlton to open.

lol. The way to be MORE superficial is to look at someone's hair and pass a remark about it. Now THAT is superficial especially when the subject matter is a large investment.

Well for me, he misses post 2's point about tourism not returning once it is gone. He is not building AI resorts or cruise ports.

He is building very expensive condos and I am sure the villas at the Cabarete country club will cost a pretty peso.

What he is doing is attracting expats and wealthy Dominicans to buy expensive condos and in the future villas. Toursim? Not really ...

In person he is like an Argentine Robert Redford..

Eden Cabarete is being painted, next doors and window and the interior work

ICON Cabarete is starting on the foundation

The Cabarete Country Club has some resistence to the wall Leo is building along the south side of the golf course from those squatters who had businesses there and need to go. The wall is necessary to prevent people entering the property and will run about 1.5 Km before the condos, villas , restaurants, etc are built for the that project.

As for Leo and the government removing La Cienaga and putting them in Bombita, I understand Leo owns the land in Bombita and is working with the DR government.

So, three projects are under way, with the Country Club having some issues to resolve on the wall, and the relocation of La Cienaga being on a wish list.
