Looking for budget hotel Santa Domingo

Ola! I am coming to Santa Domingo, then headed to Galareas. I plan on staying in Santa Domingo for a couple days. What is the best way to get to 27th st from airport and can someone please recommend a safe/clean hotel on or near 27th st. ( I want to be near the Caribe bus and I see it is on 27th) How far is 27th st from Airport. How do I prevent getting charged too much to get there from airport? Thank's ahead of time! I've always had to take cabs to get from the airport to Caribe tours. It's expensive 30-40 bucks.

i have never stayed here but i know one of the people giving the recommendation and would trust their opinion.

How did you like Galeras? We are staying at the Larancheta have you heard of it?

we passed by it numerous times and it seems nice. i have heard good things about it and recall that karin does awesome horseback tours and their horses looked like they were very well kept. it is a bit outside of town but is in a safe and quiet area. make sure to visit el cabito and have a meal, it is not far from la rancheta and there is a small beach at the foot of the hill to it that is very peaceful. happy travels, ben
