My husband and i are interested in going to the LTI Beach resort in punta cana in August 2000--we would like more information on the rooms, beach, food and service. any help you provide will be so appreciated.

Hi Laura,
we've been there end of March/beginning of April and fully enjoyed the two weeks stay at the LTI Beach.
As far as I know the hotel opened October last year, so all was pretty new and clean, although we couldn't find any trace of construction not finished yet.
The hotel consist of 5 room buildings (3 floors, about 40 rooms each floor), administration building (with lobby, bank and a few expensive shops), one big restaurant (where breakfast was served starting shortly after sunrise, lunch and dinner) and three a la card restaurant (italian, grill and fish/seafood). The 'grill' served also lunch/coffee and snacks and served as beach bar.
We had a nice room with a greate sea view, perfectly cleaned every day, marble bathroom, sat TV, phone and minibar with soft drinks/beer (daily refill).
The food in the main restaurant was always fresh, buffet for starters, salads, different main courses (also buffet), bread, fruits and desserts. You shouldn't expect to loose weight there ... The italian restaurant serves pasta and pizza, the pizza could be better, but hey, this is DR and not Italy or USA
On the other side, the steak at the grill was delicious. And if you like fresh lobster and king prawns, the restaurant behind the italian is the place to go. Unfortunately lobster is not 'all inclusive' (10-14 US$)
The beach is also great, perfect sand and if seaweed accumulated overnight they cleaned it in the morning. The sunbeds were comfortable and the hotel has plenty of them on the beach and around the huge pool. If you prefere a sunshade you need to get up early in the morning and 'reserve' yours before 8 am. This was the only point we didn't like, but it wasn't the hotel's fault ...
If you want to buy typical dominican souvenirs, there are many shops on the northern side of the beach, about 5 minutes to walk.
Oh, I almost forgot, the evening entertainment started at 9:30 pm in an extra building with stage and bar. If you still had not enough, a pub opened at 11:00 pm ...
We have been several times in DR, this is one of the hotels we liked most and we would return there every time.
