First of all, the hotels have all the basic all-inclusive activities. Boating, diving, windsurfing, horseback riding, discos, etc. There are tours of the jeep safari type and trips to Puerto Plata and a Casino tour. You can enjoy all these but also try to get out of the hotel environment and enjoy the town of Luperon. The people are very friendly and there are many good bars and restaurants: The Yola, Darios (typical Dominican cuisine), the one across from Darios (Dominican cuisine) whose name I forget, or walk up Duarte (main street) and go to La Morena's (Hotel de las tres hermanas), ask anyone and they will direct you, and ask her to prepare one of her special dinners and admire her kitchen garden while she cooks. She's a wonderful lady whose heart is big and an excellent Dominican cook. You'll get a real "comida typica" from her. Also, visit La Isabela park by taxi (first permanent European settlement in the Americas) straight down the road from the hotel gate. Go on the sailing trip to Cambiaso - beautiful beach and a great day's adventure. Remember, Luperon is safe and the people are friendly. Have a great time.
