Great history, bad present... don?t know about the future...

The Luperon hotel had its days, it was really fun...
Luperon is a wonderfull place to be for a certain type of people, who want to be away from the major "tourists factory", and have a taste of an easy-going dominican village.
I would recommend Luperon itself as a place to visit, so then it might be usefull to use the Luperon Beach Resort as a base, however, my feeling is that the spanish management (Best Hotels) is worst than a bunch of incompetent mean fools.
Other options are to stay at one of the smaller hotels in the Luperon area. That would be the best way to get to know the real atmosphere of that nice region.

Here?s the website of a reliable guy who can give you the best info (ok, he?s a friend of mine, but he?s a gold-mine of info) :

hotel is good and is relatively inexpensive compared to playa dorada's AI's.

agree that mgt could be better... but for the rates it has the hotel is good.

i have stayed a few times there. I know few people from the town.

it's not a 5-star hotel (or 4 or 3) so you will see things that are not perfect but overall it's worth the money i think. It has main buffet restaurant and has
a la carte restaurants (mexican, mediterranean, brazilian, italian) each on different night and reservation required. Has 3 main pools, 2 kids pools. and several bars.. and disco and live performances tuesday through saturday... and after perfomance is the theater, then the disco.. til 2am.

if you reserve online you get better fare (www.besthotels.es) even though right now it says you can't book to luperon. not sure why and not sure if it's really 100% booked.

at reception you'll either pay with pesos or dollars/euro... i would pay with pesos... or pay with credit card.

hope you have fun.

The hotel itself is adequate, and a great place to get away from everything. The town is a must see. What really makes your stay at luperon is the people, from the other guests you talk to, to the staff!!!!!The staff do a brillant job.
The beach is excellent, however if you are going there and expecting there to be other hotels around and bars in close proximity there isnt really. But the facilities within the hotel is good but most people like to explore. The marina is also a good place to visit whilst there.
Have a great time
