I know it can't be much, but what does one pay for a manicure and/or pedicure in Santiago?

Not sure about Santiago but I pay 100 pesos for a manicure and pedicure just outside of Puerto Plata. The lady even comes right to the house. Now if you get both on the beach or something (in tourist areas), I have paid about 500 pesos.

ctrob, you can't take it with you (money, that is). Go to Xiomara' s. She's behind Plaza las Americas in Santiago. Very nice place.. Ha !! yes you can get an iced-cold presidente while getting your nails done, all for few pesos. Think for a second how brief this passage of your life is. Then decide.
Suerte. (good luck)

Zeus,
Thank you so much for the name, we will go there!! It's actually not for me, it's for the girl of my dreams.... And your right about the dinero, but I'm always curious about the Dominican pricing vs. Gringo pricing.... but no big deal

I can't get a manicure/pedicure as I am not a metrosexual...:bunny:

(Although I do exfoliate:confused:)

thanks again,
ctRoberto

There is a place on Las Carerras and by San Louis where I have my nails done a pedicure is $185 Pesos and a nail fills runs $130 Pesos have been funk free they clean their tools after every use. If in doubt bring your own files, and nail clippers. In California you either buy new ones or bring your own due to all kind of funk you you can catch, I have never seen anyone cutting into cuticles, that is not part of a manicure.

I wouldn't recommend this unless you watch the person sanitize their tools. I've seen very horrible things happen to the feet of people who've gotten pedicures on the beach from beauticians who didn't clean their works. My friend had what looked like a horrible cuticle infection, dripping pus, etc. Looked a bit painful. Not intending to be fear mongering, just be aware that it can happen. Maybe you have feet of steel and can disregard this message.

Although I did it a few times, I have to agree. My experience was on Playa Sosua and at the time it seemed like a good idea but I think a reputable salon or someone you trust who comes to the house is a much better idea. I really only mentioned it for price differences.
