Hello,'

For Americans who are eligible for Medicare do you take part b, c or d ????

Trying to decide if it is worth the cost?

Thanks for the insight.

If you live in DR, it’s useless…. If you’re a snowbird, many supplemental plans offer worldwide coverage, but you have to pay first and file for reimbursement with deductibles of $250 and more.

Reminder: all responses must be DR related

I agree with Cavok above and do the exact same thing. Is it a waste of money? At this point in time yes, but not a big waste. If there is an emergency and I need to go back to the USA (God forbid), then it's there for me. I do not have supplemental insurance here, although that could change before I hit 70.

Huh? I have prescriptions med (although the prescriptions are long since expired) and I buy them here all the time.

I would go to a doc here if I thought I needed one. The dentist I saw was first rate. Saying medicine is no good here is absolutely wrong.

Medicare is automatic at 65 if you qualify, which if you worked for 10 years you will. Part B is optional, but you must declare OUT of it on a form or call SS. Part C and D are a waste as if you opt in for Part B and get a no extra cost Medicare Advantage Plan you get drug coverage with it.

The important thing for people living here that may not need this is that if you change your mind a few years later there is a heavy monthly penalty that gets bigger the longer you are opted out for and remains for life on the fee for Part B.
