Just wanted to add some pics to show everyone what it looked like. The restaurant sits right across the street from the Monument. The waiter told me that the big screen is for Karaoke. I hear that Karaoke is taken very serious in the Dominican Republic so don't suck!!!

It's a nice restaurant, the food is great, and it looks different at night when they turn on all of the lights. My wife and I used to visit this place, especially when they had shows with famous Dominican singers.

You better believe it, I've seen hot chicks thrown off stage half way into their songs.

Thanks

Thanks for the pics!! They were great. I have been to Montezuma many times and I always enjoyed myself there. I always felt very relaxed and the food was good. I remember eating there and watching fireworks from El Monumento. I will be there in February 2009, and can't wait to hang out in the area around El Monumento again.

Oh Pleezeee, can't you guys say anything positive? The OP took his time to post some really nice pics. I don't know if he/she is a tourist or not but the OP found some beauty at Montezuma. I think the photos are great. Who cares about the price of the food or the taste? You do tourist things you don't expect the best in food. Maybe, just maybe a day, or two, in Santiago was good enough to make the OP happy.

Please....whatever you do..............

.........DON'T Tell that to the singers on karaoke nights at the AHI Bar.....I was convinced there were no coyotes in the DR until I heard the singing there.......now I know they run in "packs" here in the city....."

What is a typical dinner type meal cost at Montezuma? I'm looking for someplace to take a group of 5 adults & one kid, preferably in the Monumento area. Not fancy but not Macdonalds either.

They cooked breakfast for myself and a chica one morning, altho I don't think they were actually open yet. Never ate their besides that one time.

Why in the monumento area?

Not absolutely neccessary - but I'll probably be staying at Hotel Matum and it just makes it easier. Don't want to drive too far, that's all.

But if it's easy to get to and not too far, I'm up for suggestions.
Thx

Why not La Marchena? Right by the Platino. Good food, big menu, and reasonably priced.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to leave my comfort zone and try it out.

But because it's handy I'll probably just take this group to Kukura Makara (sp?). I was there once about two years ago and remembering liking it. And If I remember correctly, they have a fair amount of both Dominican & American style meals?

Kukura Makara - about $20 - $25 usd per meal? (hey, it was two years ago:rolleyes:)

I just wish they would add some "cowgirls" as waitresses. :bunny:

Yes La Marchena has some "American" food. They have burgers and sandwiches on the menu.

Marchena is the best bang for the buck in town!!! I loveeeeeee their cocidos. The amount of times I hang out and end my night there!!! Can't count them.
