The Dominican Republic continues to increase its air connectivity, establishing more direct flights and routes to and from the Dominican territory, the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) has announced on 22 August 2024.

In his first session as president of the JAC, Héctor Porcella Dumas reiterated his commitment to expanding the country’s air connectivity and solidifying the Dominican Republic as a hub for tourism and air transport in the Greater Caribbean.

The JAC, responsible for setting the highest policies for civil aviation, approved a special permit for Air Caraïbes to operate the Paris-Orly/Santo Domingo/Punta Cana/Paris-Orly route from 29 August 2024 to 17 October 2024. Air Caraïbes transported 241,224 passengers in 1,065 flights between January 2023 and July 2024.
