Traveling to Punta Cana for my wedding. Chose PC because it will be easy for guests not used to traveling. I would like to travel to a nice town after the wedding for 5 days not further than 2 hours from airport without a super touristy feel but still safe. I am thinking of Bayahibe, La Romana, etc. Is there a place to rent a moto? Is it easy to get between nearby towns on them? Any good places to dance bachata?
This will be my third time to RD and I really enjoyed Las Terrenas and Zona Colonial. I didn't feel safe in Boca Chica. Thanks for any advice.

Bayahibe s full of tourist especially from 9 am and 5 pm when all the tour boats return from Saona Island
The parking lots will be filled with buses for most of the day. On the left of that webcam is the only place I know where there is music playing at night and hopefully they don't play raggaton all night.
Have a look live Watch Live from Bayahibe, see what is happening in Bayahibe bay | Bayahibe, Dominican Republic

There are clubs in La Romana but I have no info on that.

I love merengue too. I come to DR for more authentic bachata. The kind of bachata we do in the states is pretty westernized with lots of tricky tricks.

You can rent a scooter, in bayahibe or dominicus. Dont really need a scooter as the guagua from these two locations cost $1.
There is some outdoor loud music and dancing, at the colmado or the dominican bbq/hangout or the minimarket. There is a place called pitstop, but we just passed by. There is a newly opened casino next to the iberostar..
In bayahibe its a good deal to rent an apart hotel or cabana touristico.
I like the public beach of dominicus over bayahibes, the beach has a more real feel than bayahibes.
By the way, mucho italianos are around, but both areas have a real safe feel about them. You wont see too many queros running around.

Ladies of the evening. :)

Sorry I did forget about the pit stop. It's between Bayahibe and the town of Dominicus

Maybe something for you: DR8: Dominican Republic 8th Bachata Festival Jan 22-31, 2016
They make it since years, very professional.
Bayahibe: a nice easy town, super diving.
Nightlife Bayahibe: til midnight really nice, first colmado, then around cafeteria. All you want/need ;-)

I have been looking into those festivals. I think it will have to be DR9. I wanted to go to the Jan one but can't do two trips so close together.
