Motorcycle License

Would I be correct in thinking that a valid driver's license also applies to driving a motorcycle or pasola as it does to a car or truck?

Does the Canadian embassy validate driver's licenses like many European countries or is it more like the American embassy in that it does not?

Thanks.

p.s. I'm assuming that one actually needs a valid license to legally drive a moto or pasola in the DR. :D

You are correct in that you need to have a license for a motor cycle in the DR along with insurance even if it is a scooter.

Canada like other countries recognizes foreign licenses.

Canada, which is the most proactive to accepting multi nationals is more liberal than other countries.

Long term verses rentals may vary and by province

Thanks Mike,

My question about the embassy validating the driver's licence refers to whether or not they will confirm for the DR government that it is legitimate thereby eliminating the need for having to start the residency procedure and obtaining a cedula prior to getting a Dominican Driver's licence. The US does not validate driver's licences so US citizens must go this route where many European countries will validate their driver's licences and therefor their countrymen can obtain a Dominican licence much faster and with far less paperwork and expense.

A license without formal training is just a legal way to smash your body.

Go take a Basic MSF course. I'm sure the Motorcycle safety Foundation is all over Canada, too.

When the time comes perhaps we can come to an arrangement where you train me. ;):cheeky::bunny::bunny:

I'm still hoping that a fellow Canadian, who has gone through the process to get a Dominican driver's licence, can set the record straight regarding the embassy verifying their Canadian DL or if that is not an option.

Thank you.
