Hello!

I am about to book a flight to Santiago Dr on Jet Blue airlines. I've got a credit with them so will get the flight from Oakland for about $450.00(us). However, there are two things:

1. The flight arrives in Santiago at 4:30 am. This isn't so bad as I'm not planning on staying and could just immediately get on a bus but....

2. The return flight leaves from Santiago at 6 am!! How am I going to get to the airport by 4 am or whatever ungodly hour I have to arrive. Are there hotels within walking distance of the airport? Are taxi's plentiful enough that I can easily get one to the airport at 4 in the morning? What are the hotels near the airport like? Here in San Francisco the only hotels at the airport are really expensive.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I need to book this flight pretty soon but wonder if I shouldn't book with someone else even if the cost is increased. Thanks!!

To get to San Fransico is easy just pay a cab some money and in a few minutes you will be in Caribe Tours or Metro. (Thats if you dont carry bags EXTRA HEAVY BAGS like most Dominicans do) On your way back just catch the lastest bus getting to Santiago and spend the night on a club at a hotel or kill time at the airport. There is always the option of a cab from San Francisco to Santiago. . The last bus from San Franciso leaves at 700PM.

I think he was referring to San Francisco, California.

Yes. I need to figure out how close the hotels are to Santiago and if the airport is walking distance or if I'll need to try to get a taxi at 4am(not possible in some cities so I don't know if you can do this here)or hang out in a club all night but what about my baggage?

Take the JetBlue flight. When you arrive in Santiago, your option is to take a taxi to the city. Not expensive. Then you get to wait for the buses to start at around 6:30 am, at the Caribe Tours or Metro bus stops. They head to Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata, for instance. From Santo Domingo, you can connect to Punta Cana hotels.

Your best option is to overnight at one of the Santiago hotels and take a taxi to the airport. It's about a 15 minute ride. From the DR1 Hotel Directory:
http://dr1.com/directories/hotels/hodelpa_centro_plaza.shtml
http://dr1.com/directories/hotels/hodelpa_gran_almirante.shtml

No problem about taking a taxi early in the morning because the taxis cater to the off-hour traffic from JetBlue.

Here is your solution, I think

You can email palomalinda0890@hotmail.com
Tell her your day of arrival and day of return and she will have her husband "JJ" pick you up and deliver you at the required times.

I presume you will be staying in Santiago? Or on the North Shore? Where?

You can overnight at any one of several places, on the cheap, and get picked up for the return flight.

Okay. Thanks. It looks like it will be doable so I'll book the flight. I'll just get to Santiago the night before, find a hotel and it sounds as if taxi's are easy to find. Thanks for the help!!

P.S. if any one knows of any cheaper hotels near the airport(less than $50us)please let me know. Thank you!!

I believe the OP was referring to San Francisco, USA not DR.

Try The Hotel Colonial, it's under $20.

What about those caba?as?? can you stay overnite maybe??

Not sure i was working for a month Opening Delta operation at santiago , and we stay at the Hotel Gran Almirante about 20mints from the Airport, i may cost more than 50.00 per night.

But after you get into Dom. Rep, just ask the Taxi guy and he wil give you more Details.

cabanas are great option. Just take cab to cabana Imperial on auto pista duarte (on the way to the airport- same road) and catch a short night sleep for really cheap. The a/c is really strong but rooms are clean and its cheap. They let you stay overnight for the same price.

delta sucess in DR

Santo Bonao Or any Delta fans not to argue with you but if delta was so much of a success (Referring to SDQ Not STI since they just started) how come they dont increase the service to the two flights they had last year or maybe open up something new which everyone is hoping for?

good question maybe have to be ran of planes. Delta is increasing destination from Atlanta to 1000 flight per day. A least delta is walking straight to Dominican republic.

Markerting and no aircraft available to operate those routes at this moments.
Also Network and Alpa need to aprove some routes.

or if you just want a place to sleep then try
Hotel La Rotonda

~US$12 for room with fan
~US$16 for room with a/c

and 1 block away from hotel is a bus company, i think
is METRO, that can take you to diff parts of the island.
And not far from the hotel is Caribe Tours. And there's
always a taxi outside of hotel.

Hotel La Rotonda

is at the entrance to Ensanche Libertad. The closest bus is Espinal. It is much further from the airport than you want to be at that hour of the morning....

Either take the Caba?a route or the Hotel Colonial, can't lose either way.
