That's awesome. Since US dropped fll-sdq, I had a hard time every time I was looking for a flight, but looks like I'll be able to fly through fll again.

Latino,

Why are they holding the aircraft at SDQ for that long? Isn't it in the airline's best interest to turn the plane around as quickly as possible? Are they waiting for some type of connection or something?

This doesn't make sense.

They will change the Departure times for ATL-SDQ-ATL
DL332 will leave ATL at 255pm arriving SDQ at 623pm and will make up SDQ-FLL....(not in the delta.com yet) and Santo Domingo Atlanta will leave at 1015am

El tigre, it is a normal practice to use those schemes

FLL SDQ ATL SDQ FLL

i think it will be so easy for DL to conquer this route, Spirit already promoted these flights, passengers learned advantages of FLL. Delta is more reliablae than Spirit, everyone know about Delta and they have a strong audience in DR now, so passengers will switch fast. Also Delta will offer connections, you will be able to fly SDQ FLL / ATL SDQ, this airline can afford lowest fares on this route until Spirit will lose majority of passengers.

US Airways was not able to stay on this route, but DL will stay, this airline has a great acceptance on DR market and its image in USA is much bigger than Spirit.

Trying

DZ, it's in the works, as well as Spirit to POP out of FLL, but lots of ifs-ands-or buts so far. Low cost carrier ala; JetBlue, Spirit, etc is a priority but a hard sell.
It's about yield, not load factor. Incentives are there. Butts in seats, priceless.
But prices of butts, undetermined.
(kinda sounds like Sosua/Cabarete doesn't it?)

Ouch...they should think about passengers flying nonstop to FLL from the west, but anyways, I prefer a ride on caribe tours instead of flying spirit, and I think also a lot of people do. If they can offer better prices than spirit, this route will be really accepted. Frecuent flyers try to avoid ATL and MIA because of the high traffic and the constant delays, and FLL is very quiet and flights are usually on time, so it makes FLL the best connection point. US had to drop not only FLL-SDQ but also a lot of routes because of FLL's capacity to receive international flights, when they had two or more int'l flights arriving at the same time, the immigration lounge was at it's full capacity. Let's see if DL doesn't experience the same problems.

Delta?s Expansion in Latin America Continues with New Daily Nonstop Service from Fort Lauderdale to Santo Domingo
Delta also announces weekly service from Los Angeles to Belize as it continues to grow its West Coast gateways to Mexico and Central America
ATLANTA, March 8, 2007 ? Delta Air Lines is continuing its rapid expansion to Latin America and the Caribbean with two new gateways for travel between the United States and two of the hottest destinations in the region. Effective June 7 and June 9, respectively, Delta will add service between Fort Lauderdale and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic* and between Los Angeles and Belize City, Belize*.
?Delta continues to be a leader in growth to Latin American and the Caribbean and we are pleased to add two more gateways for customers to reach two of our most popular destinations this summer,? said Bob Cortelyou, vice president ? Network Planning. ?Our new destinations from Fort Lauderdale and L.A. are the latest in a series of more than a dozen new Caribbean flights that Delta, along with Delta Connection, has announced, added or applied to serve in the last year.?
With its summer schedule, Delta plans to offer Santo Domingo customers a total of 21 weekly flights ? seven to New York-JFK, seven to Atlanta, and seven to Fort Lauderdale, complementing 28 other flights from U.S. gateways to Puerto Plata, Santiago and Punta Cana. Santo Domingo, the second-most populated city in the Antilles region, is located in the south of the country at the shores of the Caribbean Sea, and is the prime driver of the Dominican Republic?s growing popularity as a beachgoer?s paradise.
Meanwhile, with the addition of new flights between Los Angeles and Belize, Delta and Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines will offer nine weekly flights from Belize City, with daily service to Atlanta (twice on Saturdays) and once weekly to Los Angeles. Belize is a favorite ecotourism destination known for its lush jungles and famous for having the second longest barrier reef in the world.
Delta?s new flights are scheduled as follows:
