New Kimpton Las Mercedes hotel in the Colonial City

Check out Iberostar-IHG’s first hotel in the capital city, the Las Mercedes Kimpton Hotel. The hotel is located in a renovated 16th Century building on Calle Las Mercedes in the Colonial City area, walkable to most historic attractions of the historic city center.

Kimpton Las Mercedes is described as a hotel that fuses modern luxury with historic charm. On the premises are three restaurants and bars, and a rooftop pool and fitness center.

The hotel is an option for Santo Domingo residents who want to spend a romantic night or two in the Colonial City, without having to commute through traffic to get there.

The general manager is Marta Amengual who came to the Dominican Republic to open the Coral Level en Punta Cana.

Same here. El Conde is only $60 per night and Hodelpa around $130. I always Airbnb a condo these days.

Many will pay, the Kimpton is a good brand/hotel. Staying in the ZC appeals to many, so I see where people would be inclined to stay at the Kimpton. I have stayed at a few Kimpton hotels and have not been disappointed. So, let's see how this one does.

I do enjoy Casa21 in old town. 24/7 swimming pool. Fabulous garden.

Many will pay, the Kimpton is a good brand/hotel. Staying in the ZC appeals to many, so I see where people would be inclined to stay at the Kimpton. I have stayed at a few Kimpton hotels and have not been disappointed. So, let's see how this one does.

In the past was also a Hotel, Im sure that the most expensive room are he ones inside old building, new construction area in the back will be cheaper. I passed by last weekend and I noticed just next to the Hotel will be a fancy restaurant,

I don’t think they are competing with those hotels, more like Casas del XVI which has been around for some time and I think is owned by the Vicini’s.

Yes, I agree. I'm just really disappointed with their website. No pictures of the outside or inside of the hotel and only one picture of the rooms. For a supposedly prestige hotel their website is subpar.

Could be just for this hotel? Kimpton website is normally pretty good with room photos, etc, at their other properties.
