New National Vehicle Retention Center now in operation

President Luis Abinader inaugurated the National Vehicle Retention Center (Cenarve), located on the Santo Domingo West off the Santo Domingo Beltway in La Cuaba, Pedro Brand municipality on Saturday, 24 May 2025. The modern facility, constructed by the Ministry of Housing and Buildings at a cost of RD$625 million, replaces the outdated El Coco Racetrack impound lot.

Spread across 141,000 square meters, Cenarve has capacity for 826 vehicles, 1,203 motorcycles, and 15 tow trucks. The state-of-the-art center also includes areas for vehicle scrappage, a workshop, waiting room, mechanical and paint shops, storage, offices, and a fuel station.

Are there photocopy and Banco Reservas services on premises? Most of us know the gov't will want documentation and money from the public before releasing impounded vehicles. Many gov't locations do not have the services in house. If the latter is the case with Cenarve, it will be a long walk to find them.

It will be interesting to see how this functions.

I'm pretty sure it will be filled with the vehicles already in the other location.

Whether or not cash payments will be excepted will be the deal maker/ breaker.

You can see copiers in one of the photos so I would guess the answer is yes.

Plus, the article says "Cenarve will make it much easier for citizens to retrieve their vehicles in a single location" so hopefully there will be a bank there or at least facilities to pay fines.
