My brother works for Delta. he sent me this
Delta Newsroom
Looks like they will be flying daily from ATL to STI.
Works for me. I hate JFK anyway.

You are only ONE person in ATL that travels to STI. NYC has 800,000 Dominicans (last time I checked). Hate JFK for other reasons, not because you had to fly Delta from JFK to STI. Sorry, i'm just suffering too much by this news.

From what I've been told, the JFK-SDQ and JFK-STI route suspensions/cancellations, also have to do with the "drug" issues on both ends of each route. Delta hasn't been able to get a handle on that part of their operations yet. ATL is much more difficult to pull that off from, than JFK. Performance had been good, but way too difficult to be profitable on DR routes, due to landing costs and now fuel costs.

Yes, there are many more Dominicans in NYC than ATL, but much better connections and management out of Atlanta.

ATL-POP was increased back to 5x weekly for now, but appears to be next in line for the chopping block (Sept.). I was off by a few months.

I am the other one who travels to atlanta every 2-3 months from sti. I am so glad to see this new route opening up from sti. The flight time is like 2 hrs and 45 minutes. Now no more JFK stopover.
One thing: they have to do something about immigration and baggage delays in atl during DR flights arrival times (6:30pm). Its a mad house there when it comes to immigration lines. Don't ever fly out of ATL on Monday morning. The lines to security are just ridiculous.

I know there is 800,00 dominicans in NYC.....But Delta still no making any Money out of NYC...That's why JFK-SDQ and JFK STI will be discontinued.

Now Atlanta to Santo Domingo is Doing very well, better than JFK-SDQ and Atlanta only have about 15000 dominican, but in this route you may see more gringos than local's, I flew this route yesterday (sunday) flight full and 85% were american's.
Now Delta will try it againg ATL-STI...but if the load factor is not good ..then...they will closed STI base as is was plans for this year.
Sorry guys...The airline industry is not the same as 10 years ago. Business is business...and with the high fuel and the operation cost..DL must survive and that's why they are looking for a merge with NW.
