I just went to Laboratorio Refencia to ask and they said you just need an antigen test (no PCR test) to enter closed spaces. And it's 1700 pesos or 30 USD.

So 30 USD every week.
Affordable for tourists and expats but not Dominicans.
That’s why many more Dominicans are getting vaccinated. Although I am fine with a vaccination program, and want to be vaccinated myself, I am not a big fan of this approach almost coercing citizens and residents into getting vaccinated.

Just got an email from Scotiabank. You need the vac card with 2 shots AND the second card with 1 vac to enter. It says you need both.
It say, and I'll paraphrase, that you need to show your vaccination card for 2 doses OR with one dose and the date when you'll get your second, or proof of a 1 shot type vaccine, I assume like J&J

Can’t a private independent entity decide on their own policy?
I guess that's possible, but I don't think any of them want to be involved in this at all. It would be nice if there were ONE official set of guidelines that everyone used.

I think they will, it will become a cost factor for many like colmados or small restaurants.
They won't pay a doorman. They may ask if you come in and sit down but by then they won't want to turn away customers if they haven't sold much all day.
You can imagine how bad some businesses have suffered since Covid. To put more road blocks on their success is criminal.
This virus is not the bogeyman many paint
And if you think the vaccines work well and you have your two (or 3)- then just go about your business and don't poke your nose in others' health decisions.
I have mine but I don't care if others do, on a plane, on a train or on the plains.
The world needs less busy bodies

I do support vaccinations for all who can.
I do not agree for a vaccination requirement for banks, grocery shops and any business needed for regular life.
A poorly thought out plan.

This is where governments will lose support.
It will also reenforce peoples often justified fear of overt government control,
Which we already have and which is growing everywhere.

If you don't have compliance approaching 100% you're leaving too many potential places for repeated spread and exposure.

We went from closing down the entire Dominican economy for two weeks so as not to over load the hospital ICU beds to if your not vaccinated you can't walk into a grocery store to buy food for your family.

I wonder what they'll come up with next?

Not the thread for this, let's keep this one only about entering businesses please. Plenty of other threads to discuss the vaccines
My bad, but if not to try and stop the spread of Covid what's the point of controlling who can enter public or shared spaces? They're controlling access to try and cajole those that are not vaccinated to get vaccinated so how are we to talk about one without the other?

That said I'll step aside and not mention the V-word again in the thread, regardless of my feelings on the subject.

That's not really a fair statement or accurate statement. As things have progressed and new information came to light requirements have changed and been adapted for the health and benefit of everyone. Why would you not want that? It's not like the DR is doing much of anything that's not been or being done in many other places with success.

Surely you don't believe that people are not capable of figuring out how to get food. They could have someone who is compliant shop for them or make use of delivery. Or are you just stirring the pot again and purposely being a contrarian for your own amusement? ;)

i went to bank and they asked for vax card. i showed him a digital copy of it on my cell. he thanked me and let me in. then I stopped and asked, how does he know this is me on the vax card? I could have shown him my brother's card and he wouldn't have known. maybe they just don't care, they just want to comply with the law and let anyone enter as long as they have a vax card, real or fake, no one cares.

Outside of banks and some government offices where their security guards are paid a little more....
that's exactly how I expected things to go.

No one does care, except the vaccine pushers.
FYI Colin Powell died today "of Covid-19 complications" after having had both Covid Shots and, if reports are correct, also a booster.

A card may get you into the bank, but for a few, it also may get you into the graveyard

You don't even have to present the card, just a picture. I don't want to sound like one of those weirdo conspiracy theorist but it sounds to me like anyone who has access to Adobe Photoshop and a Inkjet printer could wreak havoc on the pro vax agenda. Man we are living in some very scarey times.
