north coast weekend trip help

Hi!

I'm an American college student doing research in Santiago this summer. I want to go to the beach this weekend - go Saturday, stay the night, and come back Sunday. I'm trying to figure out where to go. All I want to do is get some sun Any suggestions? Also looking for a very cheap but SAFE hotel for a single girl.

I'd recommend Cabarete. Only issue is potentially transportation. You'd need to take Metro or CaribeTours to Sosua, then a carro publico or guagua the extra 15 minutes to Cabarete. Metro bus is your best bet if the timing is right for you, as the carro publicos are directly across the street from the bus stop.

Not sure what qualifies as cheap for you.

All in center of town... 2 minute (or much less) walk to the beach.
Same to bars & restaurants. Should be safe for a single traveller... I'd have no problem recommending any of them to my sister.

A phone call in the morning to any of them should confirm availability.
They won't have staff on duty at the desk at night.
