Hello everyone.
Does anyone know about any nude beaches in DR?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a resort called Playa las Canas on the North Shore that has a nude beach, nude pool and nude hot tub.

Jon & Debbie, thank you for you response. If I'm located at Sosua, El Batey, how do I get to Playa Las Canas?

I beleive you would travel east on route 5 (the main road) along the water about 15 or so miles until you get to a town called Gaspar Hernandez. From there you will need to ask for directions or look for signs to a resort called Playa las canas or Orchid Del Sol. The resort is a nude resort.

Do the big resorts also have nude beaches? I will be arriving Friday 2/23 staying at LaRomana in Bayahibe. Has any body stayed their?

Thanks again for your response. In case that I'm already staying in another place, do you think that I may be able to go to this beach, or is it intended only for those staying at Playa Las Canas Resort?

Thanks in advance.

I beleive all beaches in the Dominican are public. They can however stop you from using the resorts pool and hot tub if you are not a guest. When are you going ?

Once again, Hello.
And of course I was not planing on using the resort's facilities, it's obvious that only guests at the resort can. I was just wondering about being at the beach... Still don't know for sure when I would be going, maybe over the next weekend, but I can't say for sure. Is there anything else I should know before going?

As always, thank you.

Public or not, legal or not, hotel property security at various beaches CAN and WILL stop non-hotel-guests from entering the beach. Try entering the beach at the Hamaca Hotel in Boca Chica without the all-inclusive wrist band and see what happens.

Just because in law, "all beaches in the DR are public", public access is not a given.

Re: Nude Beaches? Not legally. *PIC*

Contact the hotel via E-mail at hugo@pair.com and visit their web site at http://www.playa-las-canas.com/. The beach cannot legally be clothing optional, however if it is deserted enough, maybe nobody will bother you. A good question for the resort by E-mail.

Re: Nude Beaches? Not legally.

Thanx for the info. Jim, however, I don't see the point of sending a message to them, since I'm already staying at another place.

Re: Nude Beaches? Not legally.

Well, they can give you an idea of whether or not you can go nude on that beach in practice, regardless of what is legal, and can tell you whether or not this is a common practice. If it is a common practice and they say you won't be bothered going nude on this beach, then it might be worth your trouble to do a day trip.

Second, they may offer day passes - many all-inclusives do. These allow you to enjoy the resort just as though you were staying there, minus the room, at a greatly reduced cost.

I believe bathing suits are very affordable. Why would anybody want to bathe nude at a public place?????????
