I'm opening up a home electronics online store (based in Santiago), and I would like to offer delivery services to any part of the country, although it would mainly be to buyers in Santiago.

Who can I contact that offers these services? I don't care what vehicle they use (motoconcho, car, or a horse) as long as they deliver it cheap and secure.

Thanks.

Caribe Tours and Metro are possibilities. They would not deliver to homes, but to the terminals in the cities and towns where they provide service. People go to the terminal to pick up their package. People here are accustomed to do this and have been sending and receiving things this way for a long time.

What you would do would be to take the parcels you are sending to Metro or Caribe Tours. They would complete a form, which you would get a copy of. Insurance is available. You would need to let your customer know the bus line used and the parcel number assigned by the bus line. They would go to the local terminal, present ID, and ask for the parcel sent them, either giving the parcel number, their name,or both. The person receiving the parcel signs for it, so there is a record it was received.

I don't think you are going to do better than this for customers living outside Santiago, and this is established and people are accustomed to it.

In Santiago, you have other options. I'll let the people there tell you about them, but I am sure there are businesses now, like farmacias, that have delivery service.

1- Transporte Blanco, # 1 in the market (door to door delivery) most of DR companies uses this service for delivering their products all around the country. Located in Moca Santiago and Santo Domingo.
2- Transporte Ras, located in Santiago, same service as the first one. very reliable, responsible and on time...

I can recommend both of them as I used for many years when working as sales person for different DR laboratories..

They deliver all over the island and they are not expensive, I'm not sure of their fees now but back in 1996 when I was working for Laboratorios Rivas I used to pay RD $ 15.00 to return a box containing 4 gallon of shampoo ( it should be bigger just an example) from Santiago to Santo Domingo, a metro Bus tick was $ 50. by the time and now is $ 200. so you can have an idea...
If you do this in a daily basis the trucks will go to you for deliveries and pick ups and you can set a credit and pay monthly.
