I talked with Orange. The network is fine. It is either my sim card or my phone.

Hi...

I'm traveling to SDQ on Jan 1st. Can anyone tell me which mobile network is the best in Santo Domingo, DN regardless of cost.

I would like to know the network types available for prepaid service for Claro and Orange: UMTS (3G) and/or 4G LTE

The download/upload bandwidth, ping times to say Miami, uptime, etc. Posting a speedtest screenshot helps.

I have an unlocked iPhone 6s so I can support all GSM and UMTS bands plus almost every LTE band.

Thanks in advance.

Both Orange and Claro, can be useful for you.
You can get up to 20mbps Download on Orange.
Dunno on claro. Ping are always ~ 50ms

20 Mbps on 3G or LTE? Does orange allow prepaid accounts to register on LTE?

I'm going to have a friend purchase a SIM card and bring it back so I can get service as soon as I get to the airport.

Yes, you can get prepaid accounts on LTE, you just need to specify to your friend, to buy you a LTE Enabled sim.

LTE from Orange only works in certains areas in Santo Domingo, if you wants to use LTE better get a 4G sim card from Claro that works in all areas in Santo Domingo.

Totally True.

Here is Orange Coverage
