Koalagirlie,
There are two sections to this resort. There is Camino del sol, which has the standard rooms and Paraiso del Sol, which has the superior rooms. For the small addition expense I would recommend the superior room. We stayed there last January 2002. The food was good for an all-inclusive. The evening entertainment was typical, after a few days it?s all the same. Due to the hotels over booking, we spent our first night in one of the hotels little cabins, in the Camino section. To say the least, this was not a good beginning. We had no hot water and when it rained the roof leaked. By morning our bed was wet and to my amazement the maid, made the bed using the wet bedding. The next day we were moved to our superior room and compensated with a free in-room safe. We were also promised a free lobster dinner at their A al Carte restaurant. When we arrived for our lobster dinner, we were told there was ?no lobster here?. After much discussion we finally settled on a bottle of wine per couple. After getting through the first night, our vacation was very enjoyable. An incident like this will give you something to laugh about later. So we take these things with a grain of salt and enjoy our vacation. There are three pools on the property, one large and two smaller ones. It?s an approximate five-minute walk to the beach through a tropical garden. At the beach the surf is very rough, but enjoyable if you like to get tossed around. The hotel staff is very hard working. The bar tender has an insane job. They just keep smiling and pouring the drinks. The resort is nicely manicured and the staff work hard at keeping the grounds clean. The hotel provided a free shuttle service several times daily, to Cabarete and Sosua. We thought the resort was good value for the price.
