My dictionary translates Pascua as Easter, Passover, and/or Christmas.

In practice I know Navidad is used for Christmas, and Semana Santa is used for Easter Week. I've also heard Easter Monday referred to as Pascua (lunes).

In conversation how would one distinguish Passover and Easter. For example, how would you say "Joe observes Easter, Sam observes Passover".

1. Joe guarda la Semana Santa. (la Pascua Florida)

2. Joe guarda la Pascua de los jud?os.

Easter and Passover are two different things:

Passover: The deliverance of Israel from Egyptian bondage
Easter season: The Holy Week (from Palm Sunday to Easter)

Easter is termed "pascua de la resurrecci?n" and Passover can be distinguished from it by saying "pascua de los hebreos."

Semana Santa is more properly translated Holy Week.

ETA:

Sorry, Norma Rosa. I was typing as you were posting!

Easter is also called in Spanish: Pascua de Resurrecci?n.

?Felices Pascuas! Merry Christmas!
?Felices Pascuas de Resurrecci?n! Happy Easter!

No hay problema, Profe. We were typing at the same time. (Same results)

In Orthodox religion Pascua means Easter. Sometimes Catholic and Orthodox Easter falls on the same Sunday, but mostly they are a week apart. We are going to celebrate this coming weekend with my Russian/Ukrainian friends.

Do you use in Spanish:"Jesus is risen" as Easter greeting to your friends? And they are supposed to reply: "Truly risen" or something of this nature? Sorry if I am asking a question not related to the original post.
