Is there any way to pay for utilities in DR while living in the US in order not to have them cut off. Does anyone know if that can be done over the Internet, using American Credit Cards?

I have been paying utilities online from either the DR or out of the DR for many years. Just check with your company. Do they have a web site or app? And I also have used both Dominican cards and US ones for this. Both work.

I rent. When out of the country (which is rare) I just include it with my rent W.Union and landlord sends me copies of receipts via whatsapp.

Try Xoom.com .

Go to “Pay Bills” ….choose “Dominican Republic”….and you should see the following companies available - Claro , Edeeste, Edenorte, Edesur, Orange , Tricom, Viva and Wind .

For Claro , for example, you input your phone number ….and the amount from your latest bill automatically comes up for payment ……with any ( American )credit card or bank account registered with Xoom.
