It is a word for a worm like thing that comes into your house when it rains. My wife says that this is not a worm. Is this a local word for a species of centipede?

A word that has many synonyms....

As diverse as Spanish is I have yet to hear any other meaning for perezoso but lazy. However, there are many synonyms used in Spanish that you will hear anywhere in the Spanish-speaking world. Some are more common than others. Popular synonyms:

1/ Harag?n
2/ Holgaz?n
3/ flojo- this usage is colloquial. It could mean lazy as a synonym for perezoso or depending on the country and context it could have a different meaning.

If you think it's a local word for a species you may want to be more specific about how you heard it used just to clarify.

It's also a sloth (oso perezoso) but you don't get many of those in Santiago.

Context will influence the use. "Perezoso" is a adjective or a noun depending on the discourse.

If you mean the following; THEY'RE EVERYWHERE in and around my house.

The rain has nothing to do with them getting in the house
They are like a plague

The first thing I do every morning is pick them up and get rid of them.

I never walk bare foot in the middle of the night  lol

Yes, those millipedes are what I am talking about, I can't go to bed at night without walking past 2 of them.

There is also a green centiped that is in the grass that carries a very painful sting. One night when I walked in the house I had one wrapped around my ankle. I thougt it was a piece of vine and brushed it off. Dominican family was horrified and told me how lucky I was not to have gotten stung. It was very hard to kill. Dont remember its name but it was about 14 inches long. I am more careful now. Wish I had taken a picture

lol

Two would be a blessing.
I get at least that many everyday just in the bathroom.

There is a big open field across from us which the neighbor use for planting, I'm guessing that is the cause of the epidemic here.

They are on the floor, the walls, the ceiling, everywhere!
