I had Popeyes a few nights ago here in Jacksonville.
Their spicy chicken w/ biscuits and mash is one of the
few things I miss about living in the states. It would be
nice to have a Popeyes in Santiago some day.
There is a knock of in Santiago even name was similar and look fooled me , chicken was same style and very good also..

I think they'll have a very watered-down version of Popeyes here knowing the market. I feel like many of my favorite menu items wouldn't be a hit here. Especially not anything spicy.

Maybe Provocon?
I thought their food was horrible.
From what I've been told the location at the corner
of C. Sabana Largo y Calle Restauracion in Santiago
closed a few months ago due to poor quality, higher
prices and stronger local competition.

I love Popeyes and if they opened a location with their
US menu selection, I've no problem hopping on a bus
if need be to enjoy some.

I enjoy Popeyes, and would definitely try it if they came to the DR. But a Jollibee's or Canes would really be good, however I doubt a franchise would ever come to the DR.

There are a couple of Popeyes near us in NJ, I’ve never tried it, the “spicy” stops me. That’s also why I don’t see it thriving in DR, they don’t even like black pepper. My mother-in-law hated anything “pica” (but boy was she a phenomenal cook).

Agree, I am not a big spice person, but I do not really find it spicy. My MIL was the same, great cook but nothing spicy. No, never seen black pepper either in her kitchen/table. Years ago, my spouse went to a pica pollo (against his will) while walking in the Conde. He bit into the chicken, and it was still raw. To this day, he will not eat any type of fried chicken at all. Doesn't matter who cooked it, he will not eat it.

Wow. I'm surprised at that. The Provocon I go to in Haina gets a really big lunch crowd every day. Plus, they have a vitrina full of all kinds of other offerings as well. I've never gotten a bad meal there.
When I buy their chicken, they always give me a cup of Wasakaka that is great for dipping.

The one that shares the parking lot with the gas station? Excellent. Love their sides too.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike back in 2018 when he helped
a good friend of purchase a small jeep south of the city. Rock solid guy.

Indeed...
The next day can be a little tough for some folks 😁
