How many years now have they been talking about spending this money? And am I going crazy, or wasn't it a lot more money before - I thought they had $500M to spend at one point. I can't see US$ 90M is going to go very far if you are going to re-do all of those streets, not at today's prices and not after you factor in what percentage will end up in back pockets.

The corruption surrounding the spending of money provided for Zona Colonial by non government sources is far greater than Odebrecht . For many years I owned an historic house in ZC and saw first hand the destruction of the streets by CAASD, the broken promises of EDESTE about removing the overhead lines and the corruption of the officials. This announcement of spending a much reduced amount is old news..what is not said is where the rest of the grant has gone, hundreds of millions of dollars. The equivalent area in Bogota is called Candelaria and has been well restored by providing a large number of car parks so that the double parking , which destroys the streets of ZC , are neither needed nor tolerated. With the closure of the multi story carpark in Jose Reyes ,ZC is desperately short of car parking and this and the overhead wires removal are essential priorities.
This is not government money that possibly will be spent, it is a small part of a overseas grant given some years ago . What has happened to the larger amount of the grant ??I doubt if we will ever know.
