Prosecutors seek 5-year prison term for MLB Player Wander Franco in child sexual abuse case and 10 years for her mom

The Attorney General Office prosecution arm, the Public Ministry has requested a five-year prison sentence for professional baseball player Wander Samuel Franco Aybar, who is on trial for the alleged sexual abuse of a then 14-year old minor.

In addition, prosecutors are seeking a 10-year prison sentence for the teenager’s mother, who is a co-defendant in the case. She is facing charges of child sexual exploitation and money laundering.

The request was made during the ongoing trial at the Puerto Plata Collegiate Court, where the prosecution presented 165 pieces of evidence, which they argue are sufficient for a guilty verdict against both defendants.

Doubt Japan, I am thinking Mexico might be the ending spot for him. Maybe the Korean League but I still think Mexico. That is if he plays again. There is a new league in the Middle East, Baseball United League, many former MLB players are involved in the ownership. But going to the Middle East after being convicted may be a problem visa wise.

MLB's investigation into Franco remains open. He could be further disciplined under the league's domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.

"Major League Baseball is proud to have a collectively bargained Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy that reflects our commitment to these issues," the league said in a statement. "We are aware of today's verdict in the Wander Franco trial and will conclude our investigation at the appropriate time."
