Hello

Can anyone tell what is the best way to get from puerto plata to santo domingo. I understand there are buses and also flights are available. How long is the trip and how much would it cost? Any information or phone numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Call this # 809.599.3641 or email James Duckett jamesd@codetel.net.do Chris is an American living in Santo Domingo. He and his partner run a transportation service and are very honest, helpfull people. You will be picked up in an air condition Van and given priceless advice and help. I just came back from Santo Domingo and Boca Chica. You can not beat their frienly services.

You'll save a lot of money, though, if you just take Caribe Tours or Metro from Puerto Plata to Santo Domingo. It's a very cheap, efficient service, with comfortable, air conditioned buses (a little nicer than Greyhound), the cost is around 50 pesos, maybe just a few pesos more than that. There are several regularly scheduled daily trips, and the time is around five hours. Caribe Tours' terminal in Puerto Plata is just one block south of the parque central. This is really the easiest, cheapest and most comfortable way to go. There's really no reason to do an air flight, as the travel time won't be cut all that much and the price will be much higher.

Re: puerto plata to santo domingo- Even Sundays???

Do you know if the buses make the trip on Sundays? I may wish to go to Santo Domingo for a day or so but would want to come back on a Sunday?

Thanks in advance. James

Re: puerto plata to santo domingo- Even Sundays???

Metro buses and Caribe Tours buses leave 7 days a week almost every hour, from around 7 am to around 7 pm. Choose the bus company depending on where you want to be dropped off in Santo Domingo. Metro leaves you on Winston Churchill, Caribe Tours on 27 Febrero/Leopoldo Navarro, closer to Gazcue, Colonial City. I prefer Metro buses.
