Will be traveling to Punta Cana with my wife and kids in the summer. We will be staying at the Dreams Punta Cana Resort in Uvero Alto. From looking at Google Maps, it looks like a long ride from the airport. Even though I don't think it is as long as Google Maps indicates, 117km, about 2 hrs. It looks like the route given by Google Maps is wrong because the route given head South West towards Boca De Yuma, then North towards Higuey, then North East towards Punta Cana.

From looking at Google maps, the resort is to the North East of the airport. So, does anybody know about how long exactly the resort is from the airport? Also, about how much would a taxi cost from the airport to the resort for 4 passengers?

I got a quote from www.dominicanairporttransfers.com for $154.00 round trip. Does this price sound about right? Comes out to $77 each way, or about $19 per person.

Thanks for any replies.

Normally a transfer would be included from the airport to your resort. Anyway, the distance is probably more something like 10 - 15 kilometers.

The posters on this thread are probably confusing the Dreams resort in B?varo, which is nearer the airport with the Dreams in Uvero Alto - as far as you can get from PUJ airport. However, the route is more direct than Google maps suggests - you don't need to go via Higuey. The coast road trip takes at least 45 minutes as it is past Macao.

The taxi fare is US$70 according to one of the taxi association websites - not sure how up-to-date it is though.

Thanks to all that have posted. This information helps alot. This will be my first time in Punta Cana, I usually stay in La Romana, Bayahibe, which isn't far from the La Romana airport.

Google Maps hasn't been updated to include the road that runs parallel to the coast but it is more than 10-15 kms - more like 40-50kms. Mauricio's estimate is based on the impression that you mean the Dreams resort in B?varo, as opposed to Uvero Alto.

Thanks for the clarification. So that's about 31miles or so.
