Punta Cana all inclusives

Hello --

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any feedback on the following resorts, and if one resort in particular is a "better" value for your money when considering -- pool and beach, room quality, & food quality.

Catalonia Bavaro
Melia Caribe Tropical

Also, are the Paradisus and the Royal Uvero really any better?

Lastly, I have vacationed over in Cancun at the Moon Palace. I remember reading many alarming things about the resorts food and people who became ill. I have a very sensitive stomach but went with an open mind and ate only within the resort. I also only drank bottled water and did not eat any raw veggies or fruits. I am told I should follow the same precautions no matter where I stay in the Dominican Republic. If I do, can I be reasonably sure I will be okay?

The Melia is a stunning resort and you certainly will not be disappointed there. I stayed at Catilonia in October and it is smaller but no less beautiful than the Melia resorts. I have absolutely no reserves in recommending either of them. Barcelo is the largest chain in the DR but I would not recommend them because they are TOO big and lack the business & personal ethics as a result of thier monopoly.
