Hello,

I am planning a trip to the S & E coasts this Aug to check out schools and town for a move in the fall. I've seen some info on a very cool sounding school in Punta Cana, CEPCA (Punta Cana Center for Education). Sounds like it isn't fully bilingual at this point, but has an intriguing mission statement and extra curricular activities.

Does anyone have children that attend this school who speak mostly english and comments they can share. Any other info on this school or others in the area would be much appreciated. Thanks much!!

hi Dana,
the CEPC (Centro Educativi Punta Cana) is bilingual, kiddies have their classes in the early morning in spanish and get the same stuff afterwards in full english.
we have 2 boys (5 and 10yrs old) there, the older one on his 5th year now.
the school is located right in front of the Punta Cana airport in a Residence named Plaza Bolero.
the school isn't cheap, we paid for the this years inscription/fees aso for the 2 boys around RD$ 200.000.- Pesos, plus school books, uniforms, extra courses offered aso, but def woth it.
have fun
Mike

I have many foreign coworkers that have their children en CEPCA and so far they seem to be doing very well. Many of the teachers at the school are foreigners and therefore can understand them perfectly and help them out.

And just to make a quick correction, Plaza Bolera is now called PUNTACANA Village.

DanaP, CEPCA is actually a fully bilingual school. From their site:

Welcome to PUNTACANA RESORT & CLUB

"The PUNTACANA EDUCATIONAL CENTER offers services of bilingual education in beginner and basic levels. Levels of advanced english are offered where the bilingual program has not been introduced to employees? children of GRUPO PUNTACANA or to residents of the community of B?varo-Punta Cana wholly foreigners and residents linked to tourism industry and commerce.
...
Through our English and Spanish program we offer an integral education within a natural environment including the care of the environment.
Our curriculum includes art, literature, history, geography, French (as a third language), sciences, music as well as computer instruction.
French is given as a foreign language from the fifth to the twelfth grade (Fourth year of High School).
In the courses where the bilingual program is not integrated, English lessons are given four hours a week.
As a manner to reinforce the curriculum, the school encourages different academic activities such as: orthography, competition in three languages, sciences and cultural fairs, Math Olympics and scholar rides that bring the students more direct learning experiences."

Also, ..

"The PUNTACANA EDUCATIONAL CENTER has made exchange agreements with universities of the United States by which graduates in education, arts, theater and music will be able to perform their training in this institution. Under this agreement and also with the agreements subscribed with FUNDACI?N PUNTACANA the teachers and students of the PUNTACANA EDUCATIONAL CENTER, will establish academic contacts through lectures and workshops given by the Universities of Columbia, Harvard, Cornell, Steven, Virginia Tech, University of Miami and Millikin University."

"For a year now, we have been in contact with Millikin University in Decatur Illinois to employ students who have graduated from their School of Education, as well as in other fields such as Art, Music and Theater."

Hi : I have tried the website for Colegio Jardin Verde School but it is either down or there is an error in the address. Would you be able to provide it and perhaps the fax of phone number in case the site is down? Thanks
