In the United States, although it's accepted, there is a stigma associated with the women who have children out of wedlock.

My question to you guys (Miguel and AZB) is, by your definition, do "good" Dominicanas raise bastards?

Does a "Good" Dominican...

By your definition:

Does a "good" Dominicana have children out of wedlock?

Does a "good" Dominicana use birth control?

Does a "good" Dominicana engage in pre-marital sex?

Does a "good" Dominican (man) use birth control?

Does a "good" Dominican (man) cheat on his wife?

Does a "good" Dominican (man) cheat on his girlfriend?

Does a "good" Dominican (man) not pay child support?

Does a "good" Dominican (man) not marry the mother of his kids?

BTW: What's worse in Dominican society, tattoos or bastards?

Thanks,
Helpmann

Serious Question!!

helpman you've posted three times in a row, you know what that means right?

It's been made very clear more than once in this thread that landing a good Dominican means one that comes from a well educated background and from a well to do middle class family for the purpose of having a relationship with residents that have settled in the DR from other countries.

Right or wrong that's the topic here

This thread isn't about moral values or finding a good one on a week's vacation.

Are we all clear now?

Thanks
Anna, this is a serious question directed at AZB and Miguel regarding middle and upper class Dominicans, not your sankies.

I don't necessarily believe that Dominican culture is more conservative, but it is different; therefore, the middle/upper class may view unwed mothers on par with women with tattoos.

Being a "good" person isn't necessarily the same thing as being a "good" Dominican.

I Sure Wish You Had the Know All To Answer my Questions,
Helpmann :)

Not A Moral Question!!!!!

Hi guys,

Sorry, AnnaC titled my thread. This isn't a moral question!! Also, this isn't a question specifically directed at you guys; however, I think you guys have a good idea of what is tolerated in middle/upper Dominican class society and what is not.

Although, I really don't get the "tattoo" thing that's not the point, that's just the way it is, which is why I have these questions. It took awhile for me to understand that Dominican men could be married, but have girlfriends on the side that accompanied them to public events, met their family, and in some instances met the father-in-law, and still be very well-respected, upper-class Dominicans.

So, when you have some time, I would appreciate it if you could answer the questions above.

BTW: A "YES," "NO," or "DEPENDS" response is good enough for me.

Thanks,
Helpmann :)

Funny, my first thread created in the Sankie101 directory and I didn't even start it. Thanks Buddy!!

decent middle - upper class domincian folks are no different from decent folks in any country.
No, the family is not proud to have a bastard but it does happen. married men who have kids out of wedlock usually hide the kids until they are exposed. then they have to deal with it. Married men don't like to have kids out of wedlock, usually the girlfriend entraps him. I have seen many cases in DR where the secret girlfriend didn't tell the man she was pregnant.
Life here is no different from many countries.

Although, I disagree about the sameness, I do appreciate the response.

DR is just the same as elswhere... almost

Does a "good" Dominican (man) not marry the mother of his kids?

answer to all your q is "yes". but it may also be "no". depends on a person. also, depends on times. it used to be a no-no to use contraception, now it is normal. last generation went to the altar in the virgin state, now it hardly ever happens.

good thing that you turn to azb for moral support. listen carefully what he tells you and then do exactly opposite. then you'll now you are on the righteous path....
