Other DR1'ers have been very happy with having furniture made in Navarette not too far at all from Santiago.

I bought my patio set in Santiago.
It was "Mundo de Miembre, rattan,, or something like that.
There are a lot of factory, stores if you head south from the certer of Santiago toward SD. As you get out of town a little, you will see stores on both sides of the highway.
If you go, shop a few different stores, prices VARY A LOT!
I love my stuff!

We got lots of stuff in Navarrette and have been very happy with it. In fact if you bring them a picture of what you want they will replicate it exactly.
The place is called Cabrera Finos Muebles and is on the left side of the road leaving Santiago maybe a mile or so before the Navarrette junction.

I was worried about that. I have 3 living areas in my house so I wanted this as informal, you know? I only want a sofa and 2 chairs, or sofa and loveseat. With possibly a small coffee table. I do not want to spend over $800-$900. Everyone's thought of expensive is different, what price were you given jrhartley?
Basically, I do not want to make a trip out there if the guys that have already bought furniture know that my price is too low

Not to worry. You will be accompanied by experts in the field. Mimbre and Rattan Navarrete is where we will go and talk to Tito and his wife...

Went to Mimbre and Rattan Navarette with Hillbilly and his son. Very courteous professional staff. They have tons of pictures of furniture for you to choose because it is built to order, they have very few pieces there to sell that are already made. The only problem for me was the cost: for a L-shaped sofa (basically a sectional) and a coffee table came to 125,000RD ($3205US) more or less. With the Hillbilly referral discount it came to 106,000RD ($2717US). This to me is too much for an L-shaped sofa and coffee table. This is apart from the fabric for the cushions and pillows as you have to go buy that on your own (or go to a fabric store and pay for it and they will pick it up for you). So for example I would need for that sofa (which requires alot of cushions) 22 yards of fabric at 500RD/yard will be another 11,000RD. Just too expensive.
I would definitely order there if I had that type of money but at this point....not happening.
I found a set: sofa, loveseat, chair, coffee table, and end table for 97,000RD at Suplidora Hawaii in Santiago.

For those with the funds, I would definitely recommend Mimbre and Rattan in Navarete....but for those on a budget, not so much.

You could probably get a set of the plastic green chairs they stack @ the local colmado pretty cheap, maybe a matching coffee table with the cup holders. That would come in handy during the next terremoto.

Only if it has PRESIDENTE written across the back! LMAO!

Or I could get a nice suga daddy like you to come to Santiago and take me shopping, spending all your grandchildren's inheritence money....
