Is the Renaissance Jaragua guest friendly?

I booked a room in a portion of the hotel behind the main building. I have no idea what this is like.

What other hotels have a casino, besides the InterCon, which I do not like.

Thanks !

The Jaragua is NOT guest-friendly.

If you want to gamble in a very nice, clean, and quiet casino, then I highly recommmend the Majestic which is located on the 2nd floor of the Hilton Hotel.

They have a V.I.P. room if you are a serious gambler. They have one Roulette table. The minimum bet is $5 USD and the maximum is $200 USD

For Blackjack, the minimum bet is $25 USD and the maximum is $400 USD.

The food and drinks at this casino are very good. :)

Minor correction...

Blackjack min bet- $5US $100RD
They have 3 roulette tables, usually at least 2 of them are open
Food and Drink.... Agree they are good!!!

The Hotel Santo Domingo/Hispanola Casino is another consideration in the area

...This is in the main room, not the VIP room.

To the OP: A good friend who has stayed at the Jaragua several times told me that it is easier to bring guests to your room in the garden area which is where you will be. Access to the main tower rooms are difficult because you must go past the front desk and security to get to the elevators. You can easily walk in without being questioned through the back entrance of the Jaragua on Ave. Independecia. Just something I happen to know... Good luck!

Latino is correct from waht I have heard- It is ironic, as the casino is packed sometimes with obvious working girls.

I know that you are going to stay at the Jaragua. This is a very nice hotel and is very clean, safe, and comfortable. You will just love it. If you have a room in the main building (tower) then you can just forget about bringing anyone to your room. Only registered guests are allowed back. They hotel has lobby officials (security) at the elevators making sure that only those registered should be there. - As for the back building (the Garden), this is nice also. While there is not that much security, they do have cameras watching everything and they do have people who work the back parking lot who will be watching for who is going into the room. So be careful.

For the cost of the Jaragua, you would be better off staying at one of the smaller hotels that is guest friendly and just walking to Jaragua Casino for the gambling action.

Search this site for those smaller hotels. Many threads on this subject.

Hotel Maison Gautreaux... En Santo Domingo, Algo Distinto.

The maision gautreaux (link above) is 1 block away and you will just love it. have fun and post a trip report when you return. :pirate:

A tip for when staying in the Garden Section at the Jaragua...When you check in, tell them your girlfriend will be joining you...then just make up a name. The security at the entrance to the Garden rooms at night (there's none during the day) only has a list with how many people are registered per room...
