I own a house in the East side of Santo Domingo which I am looking to either sell or rent. Is there a standard lease agreement that I could use between myself and the renter or is it reccommended to have a lawyer draft it up?

I agree with Sky above. I could send you a copy of mine if it would help. I would of course blank out the personal stuff.

More important than any agreement or contract; screen and investigate the s... out of your future tenant. Better to have it empty for a few more month than getting the wrong one.

Maybe this could help you a bit?
That is pretty much alike what is mostly used here, but as far as I know, a posted above, many rely on a lawyer to make sure the document is right.

How many bedrooms has the house and where exactly in SDE ? With 3 or more bedrooms your target are familys with kids, single person search for small units. You have to check out the incoming of the preople, who works where and how much they earn. So you ask for a working contract and the movements of the last 3 month from the bank account where you can proof the incoming of your client. The same you can do for the Guarantor, I never did this but I know lawyers they do.
When you're not in the country it's better to give all this work to a good lawyer and pay him, this avoid headache. One last thing, every buisness you'll do isn't easy, the same applies for rentals, you can have good luck with your tenants for years, but allso you can hit only once the lottery of shit and your rental buisness become a nightmare.

The house is a two story three bedroom, two and a half bathrooms in this location:
Residencial Ambar Marina, Calle 2, Ensanche Isabelita, Santo Domingo Este, Dominican Republic
It is sort of a gated community close to the Malecon and in a fairly nice area.
